This drawing is based on a photograph we took as part of a series documenting what now stands where there used to be queer bars across Texas. Following the cryptic address directions in the 1969 Damron’s Guide for The Candelier Club: “Drive 14 miles east on US90” and the secondary classification “Private club - make local inquiry as to admission” we drove 14 miles East from Austin on US90, pulled off the highway, found nobody to ask, and photographed the cement plant that now stands in that location.
